Privacy Policy

Data We Collect

Consistent with the App Privacy details we declare on the App Store, Venturize handles the following categories of data. Unless stated otherwise, this data is not linked to your identity and is processed on your device.

• Precise location — GPS coordinates recorded during an active trail session. Used for trail recording, route context, and distance metrics.
• Fitness & activity — steps, distance, and workout data, read from or written to Apple Health only with your explicit HealthKit permission.
• Profile details you provide — name, photo, goals, units, and fitness level, stored on your device.
• Emergency contacts — names and phone numbers you add for safety features, stored exclusively on your device.
• Diagnostics— anonymous crash logs and performance data provided through Apple's built-in, opt-in analytics. These contain no identity or location history.

Venturize does not collect your contacts list, photos library, browsing history, or any data category not listed above.

Location Data

Venturize requests While Using the App location access to record your trail. If you enable live recording with the screen off, iOS may prompt you to grant Always access; recording still works in the foreground without it.

• Location is captured only during an active recording or when you view the live map.
• Recorded routes are saved to your device. They are never uploaded automatically.
• Offline map downloads are fetched by region name — we do not log your position to serve them.
• You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

HealthKit & Motion Data

With your permission, Venturize reads step counts and writes hiking workouts to Apple Health. In line with Apple's HealthKit requirements:

• Health data is used only to power in-app features you can see (daily progress, workout summaries).
• Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and is never sold.
• Health data is never shared with third parties.
• You control every permission individually in the Health app and can revoke it at any time.

Safety & SOS Features

The Safety Hub prepares an SOS message draft — including your recent location and chosen emergency contacts — but you always choose whether to send it through Apple Messages. Venturize never sends messages, shares your location with contacts, or contacts emergency services on its own.

Emergency contact details and SOS privacy preferences are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

Storage & Security

Venturize is local-first. Trail history, readiness details, and profile data live in secure on-device storage protected by iOS data protection and your device passcode or Face ID. If a future version offers iCloud sync or optional backups, it will be opt-in and covered by an updated version of this policy before release.

Because your data stays on your device, deleting the app deletes your locally stored data.

Tracking & Advertising

• Venturize does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework — so you will never see an ATT prompt.
• The app contains no third-party advertising and no advertising SDKs.
• We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

Website Waitlist & Pilot Applications

When you join the launch list or apply for the Trail Pilot on venturize.app, we store the details you submit (email address and, for pilot applications, first name, region, iPhone model, and hiking habits) in a secured database. We use them only to:

• Send launch news and selected event invitations you asked for
• Evaluate and manage TestFlight pilot invitations

We never share this list with third parties for marketing. Email support@venturize.app at any time to be removed.

Your Rights & Choices

You can, at any time:

• View and edit everything the app stores about you from Profile and Settings
• Export your trail history from the app
• Delete individual trails, your profile, or all app data
• Revoke location, Health, or notification permissions in iOS Settings
• Request deletion of your waitlist or pilot application data by email

Children's Privacy

Venturize is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Venturize evolves — for example, if we add opt-in sync features. We will post updates on this page, revise the "Last updated" date, and, for material changes affecting app data, notify you inside the app before the change takes effect.
